Research Triangle Park, N.C. – May 2, 2008 – Dow Reichhold Specialty Latex has announced a price increase of US $0.02/wet pound for all butadiene-containing specialty latex products sold in North America with the exception of products used for glove manufacturing. The increase will be effective on May 5, 2008, and is in addition to all recently announced increases. A separate announcement has been made on price adjustments for nitrile latexes used in glove manufacturing.
The company cited the continuing rapid escalation in the cost of key raw materials, specifically butadiene, which has experienced unprecedented increases in cost within the last 30 days, and is expected to continue to increase throughout 2008.
“We have confirmed that the cost for key raw materials, including butadiene, will continue to rise throughout 2008, and logistics and transportation costs have increased, as well,” said Dave Gartshore, vice president for global sales for the company. “As a company we remain committed to maintaining reasonable margins that allow us to continue to invest in product technology and manufacturing resources to help meet customer needs.”
Dow Reichhold Specialty Latex LLC is a 50/50 joint venture of The Dow Chemical Company and Reichhold, Inc. The joint venture is the world’s largest producer of specialty latex. The company is headquartered in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, U.S.A., with operations worldwide.
