Research Triangle Park, North Carolina – February 5, 2008 – Dow Reichhold Specialty Latex has announced a price increase of US $0.05/wet pound for all specialty latex products sold in North America with the exception of products used for glove manufacturing. The increase will take effect on March 1, 2008. A separate announcement is forthcoming on price adjustments for nitrile latexes used in glove manufacturing.
The company cited the continuing escalation in the cost of key raw materials, energy, logistics and transportation, as well as a need to maintain margins that allow for reinvestment, as the reasons for the price increase.
“We have confirmed that the cost for key raw materials will continue to rise throughout 2008, and logistics and transportation costs have increased as well,” said Dave Gartshore, vice president for global sales. “As a company we remain committed to maintaining reasonable margins that allow us to continue to invest in product technology and manufacturing resources to help meet customer needs.”
Dow Reichhold Specialty Latex LLC is a 50/50 joint venture of The Dow Chemical Company and Reichhold, Inc. The joint venture is the world’s largest producer of specialty latex. The company is headquartered in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, U.S.A., with operations worldwide.
