Dow Reichhold BP3000 Polymer Offers Alternative for Medical & Dental Gloves

Contains No Latex, Nitrile, PVC, NPE or Silicone

Research Triangle Park, North Carolina – November 15, 2007 – Dow Reichhold Specialty Latex has introduced BarrierPro Polymer™ BP3000 – a proprietary polymer chemistry engineered for medical and dental exam gloves.

“New BarrierPro Polymer™ BP3000 is a next-generation polymer engineered for medical and dental exam gloves. It processes similar to nitrile butadiene latex and gives glove manufacturers an alternative to natural latex, nitrile and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). In addition it does not contain nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPE), silicone, natural latex proteins, formaldehyde or plasticizers,” said Rob Ewing, Dow Reichhold’s global market manager for gloves.

Ewing said that BP3000 processes similar to nitrile and that gloves made with BP3000 have outstanding comfort and wet grip performance. In addition, gloves made with BarrierPro BP3000 meet ASTM and EN tensile requirements and offer excellent grip and wet performance.

Dow Reichhold Specialty Latex and its parent company, Reichhold, Inc., have been part of the glove industry since the 1960s. The company developed the nitrile latex technology that has become the synthetic latex of choice for glove manufacturing. Dow Reichhold Specialty Latex LLC is a 50/50 joint venture of The Dow Chemical Company and Reichhold, Inc. The joint venture is the world’s largest producer of specialty latex. The company is headquartered in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, U.S.A.
