Dow Reichhold Announces Price Increase for Latexes Sold in North America

Research Triangle Park, North Carolina – November 8, 2007 – Dow Reichhold Specialty Latex has announced a price increase of from five to eight percent (5-8%) for all of the specialty latex products in the company’s line. The increase will be effective on January 1, 2008 and will be applied to all products sold in North America. The increase will be implemented as customer or market contracts allow. This is separate from an announced increase in the price of specialty polymers sold for the manufacture of gloves, and does not apply to those products.

The company cited the continuing escalation in the cost of key raw materials, energy, logistics and transportation, as well as a need to maintain margins that allow for reinvestment, as the reasons for the price increase.

“The cost for key raw materials is still very volatile, and logistical and transportation costs have risen dramatically in 2007,” said Dave Gartshore, vice president for global sales for the company. “As a company we remain committed to maintaining reasonable margins that allow us to continue to invest in product technology and manufacturing resources to help meet customer needs.”

Dow Reichhold Specialty Latex LLC is a 50/50 joint venture of The Dow Chemical Company and Reichhold, Inc. The joint venture is the world’s largest producer of specialty latex. The company is headquartered in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, U.S.A.
