
Research Triangle Park, North Carolina – July 17, 2007 – Dow Reichhold Specialty Latex has considerably strengthened its technical and research capabilities in the roofing materials market through a strategic new hire. James Chantler, Ph.D., joins Dow Reichhold as a research associate. Chantler has significant experience in developing and marketing new solutions for the roofing and construction materials markets.
“Roofing material, specifically glass mats used in roofing shingles, has always been a core market for Dow Reichhold,” Douglas Reid, marketing manager for Dow Reichhold, explained. “By adding James to the team, we are positioning the company to be the innovation leader in this fast-paced industry.”
Chantler joins Dow Reichhold from GAF Materials Corporation, where he served as a glass scientist and led efforts to develop new glass fiber sizing chemistry. He also served as a material development engineer for The Budd Company. He has a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from Purdue University and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Bath University.
Dow Reichhold is a leading manufacturer of specialty latex for glass mats used in roofing and other homebuilding materials. Dow Reichhold latex provides a superior balance of tensile strength and tear resistance in these applications, as well as excellent run-ability during manufacturing.
