Recyclable and repulpable barrier packaging using Specialty Latexes
Dow Reichhold offers a comprehensive line of products that can be used to formulate barrier coatings for a variety of paper and paperboard packaging. In addition to having outstanding barrier properties, functional coatings formulated with Dow Reichhold Specialty Latexes allow the packaging to be easily recycled or repulped using current mill technology and systems.
Latexes for barrier coatings can be used alone or with a number of other components to create a coating designed to meet specific requirements. The latex blends easily with various pigments — such as clays, carbonates and other fillers — wax dispersions and other resins and crosslinking agents to create a specific coating. Outstanding specialty latex properties include:
- Excellent water resistance and moisture vapor barrier performance
- Resistance to oil and grease
- Excellent hold-out
- High tensile strength
